Wilbert Lee O'Daniel, 34th governor of the State of Texas (January 17, 1939 - August 4,
1941) was a political maverick who leveraged
his position as a radio personality and country music promoter into an on-again, off-again career as a professional politician.
He was also notable for playing a role in the career of western swing
legend Bob Wills.
