Utrecht University (Dutch Universiteit
Utrecht) is situated in Utrecht, The Netherlands. It is one of the oldest and largest universities in the Netherlands.
Established March 26, 1636,
Universiteit Utrecht had an enrollment of 23,716 students in 2002, and employed 7,863 faculty and staff.
Two large faculties, Arts and Law, are located in
the inner city of Utrecht, but the majority of the buildings is in De Uithof, a sort of
campus area on the outskirts of the city of Utrecht.
