Three ships of the United States Navy (and one of the
Confederate Navy) have borne the name USS
Missouri in honor of the 24th state.
- USS
Missouri, 10, a sidewheel frigate, made the first powered crossing of
the Atlantic by a steam warship and was lost to fire at Gibraltar prior to the
American Civil War.
- USS Missouri (BB-11), a Maine-class battleship, sailed with the Great White Fleet.
- USS Missouri (BB-63), a Iowa-class battleship, was the last battleship completed
by the United States.
