Transfusion medicine (or transfusiology) is the branch of medicine that is concerned with the
transfusion of blood and blood components. In the United States it is not a recognized branch of medicine. The blood bank is the section of the lab that deals with blood products and is supervised
by a pathologist. Transfusiology is not a recognized term in the US.
In Denmark the subject is covered by the speciality "Clinical Immunology"
This topic has been created as a branch of medicine, but it is not clear that it
really exists. Transfusions are used in medicine, but there is no field of transfusiology. This may heve been created by mistake
by a layperson who was creating the medicine article. Please comment on the talk
page if this field exists.
