Matlock is a town in Derbyshire, England. It lies on the River Derwent, and has prospered from the mills
constructed on that river. The town is the home of Derbyshire county
council, and also the Derbyshire Dales district
headquarters.

Matlock Bath is the southernmost part of Matlock. It was developed as a spa town and still thrives on tourism. Attractions in the town include
the Heights of
Abraham, Gulliver's
Kingdom theme park, the Derbyshire Mining Museum a petrifying well and an aquarium. The town is also
known as a meeting point for motorcyclists. Both Matlock and Matlock Bath are
on a railway line to Derby. The Peak Railway runs trains from Matlock to Darley Dale and Rowsley.
Matlock lies at the south eastern edge of the Peak District and
tourism is important to the town. There is a large Victorian park next to
the river in Matlock which boasts a miniature railway, bandstand and a boating pond with the oldest running powered boats in
Britain.
