Marram grass is a genus of perennial grass, used to prevent or stop erosion of dunes. It is a sand-binder and dune-builder, with an
extensive root system and a coarse, stiff structure.
There are two species of Marram grass, and one hybrid:
- North American Marram grass Ammophila breviligulata
- European Marram grass Ammophila arenaria
- Hybrid Marram grass X Ammocalamagrostis baltica - a hybrid between Ammophila arenaria and Calamagrostis
epigeios.
