Joan La Barbara is a vocalist and composer associated with
contemporary music. She has worked with John Cage, her husband Morton Subotnick, Philip
Glass, Merce Cunningham, Larry Austin, and many others.
While she is known primarily for her vocal abilities and extended technique she is also an accomplished and respected composer.
