Conveyor transport is the broad category of transport that
includes modes developed from the idea of a conveyor belt. Examples include:
- Conveyor belt
- Escalator
- Moving sidewalk (moving walkway, travelator), including the
inclined moving sidewalk (moving ramp)
In Hong Kong, tens of thousands of commuters travel each work day between the
Central District (a financial district) and the
Mid-levels (a residential district hundreds of feet up Victoria Peak) using a long distance escalator/moving
sidewalk combination. It goes only one way at a time; the direction reverses depending on rush hour traffic direction. See
Central-Mid-Levels escalator and Transportation in Hong Kong.
